The Cute Wedding Decor You Should NOT Use
Acrylic Signs and Table Numbers
We know that acrylic sign with cursive writing is SO cute in all those Pinterest photos you see online BUT you spend all this money on them and they are useless day-of. With the sun out, people moving around and chatting, no one can read the acrylic welcome signs, seating charts and table numbers, especially when they are clear with white writing. If you really love that look try a dark color ink on white acrylic.
Overuse of Floating Candles in Glass Hurricanes Outdoors
Now… we are not saying that you can’t use floating candles in glass hurricanes ever outdoors… What we are saying is that you should choose very sparingly where you will place these candles because they require so much prep work and tear down steps. You have to first fill the glass hurricanes with water and if you are pouring on top of your tablecloths, BE CAREFUL. Depending on the venue, you may or may not have access to water pitches and a sink they fit in (water pitches don’t fit in bathroom sinks). Then, you will need to place the floating candles into the water and light them one by one. Each of these need to be emptied out at the end of the night. Then they will need to be put back in their original containers for transportation at the end of the evening. This can all be pretty time consuming.
Candles indoors
We understand that the light given off by candles is charming and there is something really sweet and romantic about that look and the vibe that it creates, but it can be a fire hazard. Some venues won’t allow this in general because it could set the fire alarms off, but even if they do, it’s not a good idea to have fire along the edge of a hallway, on the gift table, or on each of the reception tables. Anything could happen and you just don’t want to be responsible for a fire-related accident on your most special day. If you want to use a real candle make sure it’s in tall votive so the wax doesn't’ get every where… we have scraped a lot of candle wax off of tables.
A good alternative if you are set on this look, is to use flameless candles.
Glitter
Remember all those art projects in elementary school where you lathered something in Elmer’s glue and then dumped loose glitter all over it? As fun as that art project can be, we do not recommend doing this for any of your wedding decorations. You will end up with a trail of glitter in your car, down the hall, all over the rentals and all over your home. Glitter is fun, just don’t use loose glitter!
